FACING URBAN TERRORISM: Root Causes with Boko Haram

What’s up?
After the historic terror moments lived during the World Wars I & II, and the major natural disasters around the globe that have left massive and frightening human death tolls, the phenomenon of terrorism, today, has surfaced to soak the world in another dreadful fear and immense need for ever increasing security measures over populations everywhere.
From bigger and older terrorist network movements such as the Al Qaeda and the Taliban, the Boko Haram movement, even though seeming comparatively smallest in size, has now begun teaching the world how invincible terrorists can be, by openly and forcefully abducting an entire academic institution, then, making authoritative demands to Africa’s biggest economic power. In the limelight, one begins to wonder if such terrorist acts are not one government or the other’s further assisted mechanisms for undercover reasons. This is because, they have willfully failed in their duties to implement the terrorism prevention mechanisms on transnational and organized crimes duly instituted by the United Nations.
In practice, given that, terrorist instincts or attitudes are neither alien nor innate but that which stems from a process of acculturation, and considering that the youths and urban milieus are most sensitive areas for the growth of values that are necessary for building full terrorist militants, there is need to worry.
What’s Down?
In a nutshell, the responsibility of fighting terrorism, from examined examples within this manual, doesn’t seem to be an issue of apportioning blames on one or the other. Terrorist instincts are culturally induced values that are grown within us based on our day to day activities. Whether caused from, disappointments, vengeance, need for awareness, or needs to protect values, the core focus is that, the community mores and morals that grow people from children to adults, have a major responsibility in deciding whether the society will create terrorists or it will develop peaceful citizens. Thus we, the community duelers and the elderly, owe nature the duty to guide and direct our children in the ways of peace, tolerance, patience, harmony and compassion towards one another in order to eliminate every bit of retaliatory, hasty, and negative reactions within the society.
The Book’s Puzzles
1.    In the advent of terrorist strikes, with knowledge on both the State’s and the Community’s responsibilities to prevent such, who is to be blamed?
2.  If human terrorist instincts and attitudes are obtained via societal acculturation values experienced everywhere, why are major terrorist strikes only chronic in particular zones? Are there other reasons for such other than the terrorists’ sect values? Are we missing anything that needs correction?
3.    With the abducted school girls still under the hostage of Boko Haram, are there reasons to measure what will be the outcomes of those children while, they are being brainwashed and taught the ways and believes of the sect?
4.    Are the member States to the UN resolutions on fighting transnational and organized crime truly ready to implement their obligations and cut the roots of terrorism promoter catalysts with all that transpire between some of their officials and the terrorists groups?
Things to verify!!!

The NATION's ROLE in COMMUNITY SOLIDARITY

What’s-Up?
General solidarity appraisals for internal and external community or intercommunity realities, bring up several discussion postulates on how mutually comprehensive relationships between human groupings can be achieved within such a liberalist world. Given that communities are composed of human beings who need to be under certain guidance rules. Also, given that liberalists humane concepts such as the human rights, allow huge allowances for human freedom and choices over certain community binding rules. There arises a problematic with respect to the possibility of achieving a major solidarity focus within a large community perception such as ‘the nation’, which has several other communities within its territorial boundaries.
As a major imagined community, the nation-State possesses a variety of divergent communities under its jurisdictional control and protection. As such, it follows that, an attempt to appease or unite one, two or more communities within the nation, may just be another major opportunity to disrupt or separate other ones. The nation here is thus faced with a very great task to bring all its smaller and divergent political, cultural, economic, social and scientific communities within its territory, under the same canopy goal of peace and development. The achievement of such a national solidarity purpose can only be possible if the nation should, in partnership and guidance lead collaboration with its intranational as well as the international communities, plan and implement joint development ventures.
What’s Down?
The perception of nationalism as an imagined community unifying phenomenon is frequently criticized by several writers because of its inconsistency in scope and applied context. As well, the refined conception of citizenship and other national unity symbols including the national flag and emblems gives the nation-State a venerated and autonomous mother community overview.  This means that, the nation holds due overall responsibility to ensure its role in fostering peaceful solidarity amongst the communities under its territorial jurisdiction, but:
1. Is this always the case?
2. If not, should that be the reason why the international community should interfere in the protector privileges that ought to be solely, an autonomous issue for the imagined nation-State community?
3. Can nations within the true practical conception and implementation of their bestowed autonomies and sovereignties be trusted with the safety of their intranational communities?

COMMUNITY'S ROLE IN PEACE AND DEVELOPMENT

What’s Up?
Recent global and local development talks and agendas have mostly centred on community perspectives. Appreciating issues from feasible community conflict moments and major war-torn zones to modern technologically built communities (online communities), major calls for concern with respect to conflict prevention, conflict management/mitigation and conflict resolution towards peace building and development goals have prioritized global growth platforms. In response, several writers and development agencies have attempted in purporting practical solutions by previewing community concepts towards distinguishing and realizing global objectives of peace, but yet, global trends on conflicts are still on a high scale.
In redress, the conceptualization of the community into distinct activism categories, brings out the likelihood appreciation of the conflict driven catalysts within the community concepts. This as well, addresses the conceptual points of weaknesses which are liable to instigate and/or stimulate community conflicts.
What’s Down?
In several perspectives, the community is shown to be a preponderant medium via which societal growth is initiated, processed and realized, but yet in very limited situations, is the community portrayed as the source of humane and natural apocalypse.
Dr. NGYAH highlights that: ‘bestowing a preeminent position on the community as an agent of the positive peace building and development deity, to a significant extend, dampens other due philosophical perspectives on achievement and ethical positivism. Universal worries today have been based on the atrocities that originated within the concept of communities. Therefore, we are faced with a paradoxical positioning situation of the community, when at one point, it is elevated to deity and at another, it plays the protagonist role of sinister’.  So we now question:
Does the concept of community deserve its modern appraisal that has been exalted and acclaimed all over local, national and global leader policies for growth and development meanwhile, at same time, it plays the role of the devastator mother root for the same instances of its positive growth veneration?
